We journalists are no strangers to receiving harsh comments online.

To be fair, some are justified, especially when a reporter blows a story or makes a simple mistake. Some are just people who are angry for whatever reason. A majority are just people trying to "troll," basically saying mean things to get a rise out of someone.

At first, these can be hard to shrug off. Despite what many people believe, we do try to be accurate and care about our jobs. However, after reading them day in and day out, they become funny.

The Indianapolis Star decided to take the mean comments to the next level. It had the reporters and columnists read some of the comments left on their stories.
