One year in the life of a premature baby [VIDEO]
Ward Miles Miller is alive but for the grace of God, and one proud father never ceased in documenting his premature son's struggle to survive.
Born 15 weeks early, Baby Ward spent the first 107 days of his life in a hospital, not even able to feel his mother's touch until the fourth day, according to The Huffington Post.
From the get-go, all odds were against Ward Miles: He had an elevated heart rate for months and most frighteningly, he achieved one of the worst scores possible for brain bleeding, an issue the doctors could do nothing about.
But as the saying goes, "This too shall pass."
Ward Miles was a fighter and he is now 16 months old. He is only now learning to crawl, but dad Benjamin Miller said he repeatedly keeps trying to walk. Ward knows what "dog" is and he can even say the name of one of the family pets.
Miller, a photographer and filmmaker, surprised his wife, Lyndsey, with the video below for her 32nd birthday, "which coincided with the one-year-anniversary of the day Ward came home from the hospital."
