WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says "the moment is now" for Congress to act to overhaul the nation's broken immigration laws.

Obama spoke at a White House event hours before the full Senate holds its first votes on a landmark bill. The legislation would create a path to citizenship for many of the 11 million people in the U.S. legally.

The president says the Senate bill isn't perfect and no one will get everything they want. He says the bill would be a massive investment in border security and would give employers a reliable way to check whether those they're hiring are in the country legally.

Obama also says the pathway to citizenship offered in the bill would be "no cakewalk" for those already in the country illegally.

    Someday all of you one-sided predjudicial SOB's will have to realize, we are all in this together and no one side is always right, but the one side that should always be viewed as right; is the American Dream and what it really stands for. I don't believe hate, predudice and disgust for a certain segment of our population is part of that Dream.

    It's funny...A lawbreaker trying to give amnesty to other law breakers...Now how novel is that?...Oh well no worry's this is only temporary.He's running scared and knows he's history come November 6TH...This will all be reversed and revoked after January 2013. So all you illegal aliens don't get too excited.

    under this new plan "illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED" ..... What does that cover? Maybe 5 or 6 illegal immigarnts in the whole country??? Really, I don't think this new plan is to bad...

    I wonder if those youngsters who blocked roads, had overnight 'sit-in's' and got arrested are now going to be eliminated from this new ruleing? No criminal backgrounds??? Does being arrested count or is that going to be overlooked?

    While alot should be done concerning protecting our borders and those that came here outside the accepted legal means, Obama has miss used his authority in his situation. The Legislative branch of our Government is the only one that can pass laws.
