Best Red Carpet Looks

Jennifer Lawrence said it was an ordeal to get in the car while wearing her Dior gown to the Oscars (apparently it was also an ordeal to walk in) but it was well worth it. She was certainly the star of the night, and had the look to match. The blush Dior Haute Couture dress, teamed with drop earrings and reverse necklace made her a winner even before entering the theatre.

Jessica Chastain was compared by many to Jessica Rabbit and Marilyn Monroe, and although she did resemble the voluptuous beauties, she pulled off the look in a much classier way. The golden Armani Prive beaded dress, which perfectly matched her hair, was simple yet stunning.

Naomi Watts also chose to walk the red carpet in a silver sequined Armani Prive dress with her hair pulled back to showcase the sexy, but not too flashy, shoulder cut-out.

Other great looks worth mentioning include Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta, Jennifer Garner in Gucci, Charlize Theron in Dior and Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture.

Worst Red Carpet Looks

Helena Bonham Carter fought the fan, and the fan won! The layered Vivienne Westwood dress and sloppy hair looked like something out of a Tim Burton movie. Come to think of it, maybe Burton does get his inspiration from her.

Melissa McCarthy may not be a size zero, like most other Hollywood starlets, but that doesn't mean she can't look fabulous. The grey David Meister jersey dress, and Hairspray inspired hairdo, was just wrong.

Amanda Seyfried's embroidered lilac gown designed by Alexander McQueen took months to create, and it was gorgeous. But it was probably better suited for someone that spends more time under the sun. The look was too washed out.

Anne Hathaway chose the apron-inspired Prada dress just hours before arriving on the red carpet. She may not have realized how...um...the cold temperature would affect the look (if you know what I mean). Interestingly, Seyfried's choice had a little something to do with this mishap. Hathaway had a dress designed by Valentino that she was going to be wearing on the red carpet. Unfortunately the design looked too much like Seyfried's dress, so she opted for something different at the last minute. And the rest is fashion faux pas history.

Thankfully there were many other "what was she thinking?" moments to divert our attention from the ladies above like Sally Field in Valentino, Halle Berry in Versace, Kristen Stewart in a grumpy face, and Brandi Glanville in too much cleavage.
