Baltimore police, mothers crack the whip during hostile protests

Shortly after an entire city came together for the funeral of Freddie Gray, rioters took to the street to express their distrust with the local law enforcement.

Gray, a 25-year-old black man, died on April 19, just days after an encounter with police left him with fatal spinal injuries.

Rioters plunged part of Baltimore into chaos Monday, torching a pharmacy, setting police cars ablaze and throwing bricks at officers. These events came just hours after Gray’s funeral.

The situation escalated to such an extent that Maryland Governor Larry Hogan declared a State of Emergency and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake called for a citywide curfew.

The growing violence and unrest throughout the city forced an even bigger wedge between civilians and officers, as was most accurately demonstrated by the violent exchange of objects.

One woman decided she had enough with one of the protesters and took matters into her own hands, in a video posted by COED Magazine.
