The Transportation Security Administration will postpone its plan to allow knives back on airplanes, a press release said.

Knives have not been permitted on flights since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

After the TSA announced its intentions to again permit knives on planes on March 5, numerous unions spoke out against the decision and have been fighting against the decision.

Unless the TSA changes the rule, knives will be permitted on planes beginning April 25.
