For some members of Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s political party, they would like to see a giant wall built along the Arizona-Mexico border.
But for Ducey, instead of building a wall, he would like to tear down any obstacles when it comes to trade and economic opportunities between the state and the country.
Ducey spent a portion of this past week on an official visit to the country that is responsible for 40 percent of Arizona exports. It was the first official visit for an Arizona governor since 2007.
According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Ducey spent Wednesday meeting with CEOs and executives from the Mexican mining, trade financial, agribusiness and heath companies. He also met with U.S. Ambassador to Mexico City, E. Anthony Wayne and met with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.
The Mexican visit for Ducey came on the heels of attending the Paris Air Show where he was promoting Arizona’s aerospace industry.
