Close to 200 people are expected to lose their jobs next month when the Ritz Carlton Phoenix closes its doors.
The hotel, located near the corner of 24th Street and Camelback Road will close July 24 according to the Phoenix Business Journal and stay closed until January when it is expected to reopen under Marriott’s Autograph Collection brand. The new 281-room hotel will be called The Camby.
“We are working closely with our (employees), prioritizing them for new positions throughout our global network of hotels and resorts as well as with the new operator,” Ritz Carlton Phoenix general manager Grant Dipman told the Business Journal.
Marriott International Inc. owns the Ritz Carlton brand and recently filed a worker adjustment retraining notification with the state saying it will be laying off 197 employees.
The Autograph Collection is Marriott’s independent branch of hotels and allows for them to be unique to its location, history and culture.
