Winslow, Arizona is well known through a song by the rock group The Eagles. Now it is getting attention as one of the 15 cities that has advanced to the final round of the nationwide “Bark for Your Park” contest.
The grand prize is $100,000 to build a new dog park. Runners-up in each size category win $25,000 to build a park.
“I’m really proud of our little town,” said Bob Hall with the Winslow Chamber of Commerce. “We’re competing against some big cities around the country.”
The city with the most votes wins and the folks from Winslow vote two times a day, every day.
They hope a dog park can be a place for residents and their dogs to come together as a community.
Voting is online at Bark for your park Facebook page or the main website.
“Please vote for Winslow,” added Hall. “Our dogs want to do more than stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona.”
