6 things you didn’t know about the Statue of Liberty

The American symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty, is celebrating an anniversary of sorts this week.
Lady Liberty made her way into New York’s port June 17, 1885, after a grueling monthlong trip from France, packed into 214 crates.
The gift from the French was formally dedicated in October 1886 and designated a national monument in 1924.
She’s pretty famous, but we’ve found a few tidbits that aren’t likely common knowledge.
