PHOENIX — A large fire in a Phoenix-area backyard sent a large plume of black smoke over the city on Monday morning.
Capt. Dave Folio with the Scottsdale Fire Department said the fire was reported about 8:30 a.m. near Cactus and Scottsdale roads. It was quickly declared a first-alarm.
“We brought in about 100 firefighters,” he said.
Folio said firefighters had a tough time combating the fire because yard was filled with debris.
No injuries were reported.
Cactus Road was closed while the fire was put out.
The cause of the fire is unknown, though the spark point appeared to be an unattached garage or storage shed.
KTAR’s Mark Remillard contributed to this report.
