PHOENIX — Paradise Valley, Arizona will soon be the home to a new luxury resort from Westroc Hospitality, according to a recent press release.
The hotel will be developed on the former location of the Marriott Mountain Shadows Resort, which was demolished in 2014 after being out of business for 10 years.
Construction on the new Mountain Shadows Resort is expected to begin this summer and open for business in early 2017.
It will feature 175 guest rooms throughout two buildings, an adjacent building with 31 hotel-condominium units, a restaurant and market and a fitness center. The development company is also expected to rehabilitate the Mountain Shadows Golf Course.
The Marriott Mountain Shadows Resort, one of the first resorts in the area, closed in 2004, and was demolished in 2014. Woodbine Development President and CEO John Scovell said the company wanted to restore the property for years.
“Woodbine has had its eye on this piece of property for years, knowing how much potential exists to restore Mountain Shadows to its former glory,” he said.
Westroc CEO Scott Lyon said the property will blend the landscape in the area with the high-end style of the neighborhood.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to blend the history of the property with a fresh, contemporary design that will complement the amazing views of Camelback Mountain with the prestigious neighborhood of Mountain Shadows in Paradise Valley,” he said.
The new resort will be the first new-build hotel property in Paradise Valley in seven years.
