PHOENIX — The downtown area looked a little unusual Friday in Phoenix: It was overrun by stormtroopers, super heroes and other fantastical characters.
The city’s annual Phoenix Comicon event kicked off Thursday night. Thousands of people were expected to attend the four-day event that wraps up Sunday evening.
Numerous celebrities were scheduled to appear at Comicon, such as Ron Perlman (“Sons of Anarchy”), Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future”) and David Morrissey (“The Walking Dead”).
The event fills two buildings at the Phoenix Convention Center from top to bottom.
KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mike Russell, a pirate, and Pamela Hughes, Stormtrooper, attended early Friday morning to check out some of the booths and costumes. Monica Lindstrom, dressed in a Steam Punk outfit, joined in the afternoon.
This might be the best four seconds of the weekend — KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Mike Russell and Monica Lindstrom battle to the death with lightsabers. Who will remain victorious?
