PHOENIX — A freeway cutting through a Phoenix suburb was fully reopened early Tuesday morning after a fatal overnight crash.
The right two lanes of the Loop 101 were closed near University Drive about 1 a.m. after a sweeper hit a retaining wall. The driver, 23-year-old Ernest Tre Daurham, was killed in the rollover crash.
About 25 feet of retaining wall was damaged in the crash.
The lanes reopened about 6 a.m.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the truck was traveling at high speed when it
lost control and struck the retaining wall.
KTAR’s Jim Cross and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
