PHOENIX — A multi-agency task force seized nearly 600 marijuana plants from a storage facility in Phoenix on Wednesday morning.
Eight people were arrested and warrants were being executed for several more.
Authorities said the investigation into a suspected marijuana grow and distribution center near Seventh Avenue and Interstate 17 began seven months ago.

“People say it’s not a big deal (marijuana) — it is a big deal. … they’re making big bucks off an illegal operation,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
Officers from Phoenix, Tempe, Buckeye police departments, Customs and Border Protection, and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency were also part of the task force.
