PHOENIX — Things will soon be moving faster for more small businesses in Arizona, at least in terms of Internet speed.

CenturyLink announced Monday it would expand its one gigabit Internet speeds in Arizona, affecting about 1,200 businesses.

“We’re going to be able to focus on parts of south Phoenix, specifically in the areas around the airport,” spokesman Guy Gunther said, adding the expansion will also include areas north of Sky Harbor.

In addition to the faster speed, Gunther said CenturyLink includes data management and other services.

“The market has other companies that provide connectivity, but what they don’t have is the full portfolio — connectivity but also cloud IT-managed services that we’re providing,” he said.

Some of CenturyLink’s small business customers were initially offered the service in 2014.
