Though borders open, traveling to Cuba still has its difficulties

Cuba is a great destination, but not yet a vacation destination.
“It’s going to have to come up a level before Americans are going to be comfortable with what they’re getting when they arrive,” KTAR travel expert Kari Mollen said. “They still have a lot of restrictions.”
Traveling to Cuba has a set program and preset dates. Their infrastructure needs to be updated and there are still many kinks to work out, according to Mollen.
Flights to that country originate out of Florida and run upwards of $3,000.
“As we go forward to 2016, obviously it will start to open much more,” Mollen said. “For the next year, we’re still going to have a lot of restrictions.”
Traveling to Cuba might sound exciting but it may be worth putting off for the time being.
“Cuba is one to watch,” she said.
