No decision yet in Phoenix tree dispute

PHOENIX — A neighborhood near 12th Street and Northern Avenue will be able to keep its tree — at least for now.
Residents who live in the Casa del Norte townhomes have been fighting with their HOA for more than a month over a huge eucalyptus tree that they say is a centerpiece of the neighborhood.
Associated Property Management originally said the tree had to go because it is damaging sidewalks and potentially doing harm to homes there.
When they sent a crew to cut it down, a woman stood in front and stopped them. Other neighbors said they would join her if there was a second attempt.
That led to a meeting between APM, the homeowners and the association last week.
The company said in an e-mail to KTAR that its Board of Directors has decided to hire an arborist to inspect the tree and give an opinion about what should be done.
The tree will be the subject of another meeting on June 8.
