PHOENIX — Downtown Phoenix has experienced a lot of growth in recent years and the city will reportedly boast another live music venue next month.

The Phoenix New Times reports Charlie Levy, co-owner of the popular Crescent Ballroom and head of Stateside Presents, will open the venue in May.

Though he has yet to decide on an opening date, Levy has selected the basement of a building near Central Avenue and Monroe Street for his latest venture, Valley Bar. He said the 8,000-square-foot venue will be a breath of fresh air in downtown.

“It’s an old building and it has a really cool feel and vibe down there the way it is now, just raw with really cool columns and great woodwork,” he told the New Times. “And we’re going in there and trying to not mess it up and enhance what it already has and let it be what it is.”

Aside from live music, Valley Bar will have a game room, a kitchen operated by Short Leash Hot Dogs and a separate lounge paying homage to Arizona politicians.

We want to hear from you.
