Samuel Adams comes to Phoenix to help local businesses

Feb 23, 2015, 7:00 AM | Updated: 7:04 am

PHOENIX — Small business owners have a chance to learn from some pros on how to get their company off the ground on Monday.

Representatives from Samuel Adams will be in Phoenix as part of the company’s Brewing The American Dream event, which provides “speed coaching” to local businesses.

“The goal of this speed coaching is to provide some nuts and bolts advice that is really important to successfully run a small business,” said Jennifer Glanville, one of Samuel Adams’ brewers.

Samuel Adams’ founder Jim Koch has often discussed the challenges he faced after starting his company in 1984. From financing to distribution, Glanville said it took a lot of time and effort for Koch to turn Samuel Adams into the nationally recognized company it is today.

So in an effort to give back, the company travels around the country holding events that allow small businesses to get one-on-one help from Samuel Adams professionals.

Since Samuel Adams began small business coaching, the company said it has helped over 5,000 businesses and on Monday, Glanville said people can show up to CO+HOOTS near 11th and Washington streets in Phoenix beginning at 7:30 p.m. to get advice for their business needs.

“The coaches can offer a range of expertise from finance, sales, marketing, graphic design, ingredient development and participants should come prepared with specific questions and some challenges they face as small business owners,” she said.

Glanville said the event is free and open to the public; from novices who are look to launch a business to those who already have a company and are looking to grow; she encourages everyone to take advantage of the opportunity.

“Some people, they may be a little like, ‘Oh, I don’t know, I don’t know if I should go’ … just show up,” she said.

We want to hear from you.
