PHOENIX — Fans attending the Super Bowl will have to adhere to stringent security policies, which were laid out in an NFL press conference Thursday.
NFL Chief Security Officer Jeffrey Miller explained what you will be allowed in University of Phoenix Stadium Sunday.
“Bags that are plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 x 6 x 12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags and small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap,” Miller said. “A small clutch can be carried into the stadium with one of the clear bag options.”
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after they are inspected at a designated gate.
Miller also listed the items that won’t be allowed inside, which includes outside food and beverages, footballs, frisbees, beach balls, banners and signs, airhorns, laser pointers, strollers, camcorders and more. A complete list can be seen on NFL.com.
Miller said that you should be ready to be searched when you get to the stadium.
“Fans can expect to pass through metal detectors and a pat down search,” said Miller. “After the pat down search, fans will be asked to unzip any coats that they might be wearing.”
Camera lenses longer than six inches are also prohibited and all bags will be x-rayed.
