PHOENIX — The city of Glendale and the Arizona Cardinals continue to butt heads over the upcoming Super Bowl.
Arizona Cardinals President Mike Bidwill said Saturday that Mayor Jerry Weiers’ claim that Glendale is losing money on Super Bowl XLIX is nothing more than “political speak.”
On Thursday, Weiers told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Bruce St. James and Pamela Hughes that the city is losing money on the event because of law enforcement expenditures for the big game.
“In the long run, down the road, certainly we might break even, and we might possibly even make money,” Weiers said. “But if you look at the day of the event happening, I think that we’re going to lose money.”
Weiers said that Super Bowl costs are actually impacting city services.
