PHOENIX — Inmates in Maricopa County jails will be able to schedule a free video call to family on Christmas, Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
“It’s very, very good to be able to let the loved ones — whether it’s in Mexico or anywhere else that cannot come to the jail — to be at least able to utilize this video equipment,” he said.
The 20-minute calls normally cost about $13, but Arpaio and the company that installed the system, Securus Technologies, decided to waive the fee for the holiday.
Families can register online for the free Christmas Day call between 12:01 a.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
