Armed suspect shot by Phoenix police dies

PHOENIX — Police said one person was critically injured Thursday morning in an officer-involved shooting in north Phoenix.

A man who was throwing knives and rocks at police was shot near Interstate 17 and Union Hills Drive.

UPDATE: The suspect, Joshua G. Dawson, 35, died at a hospital.

Police had been called by construction workers at an industrial site, where the man had been throwing rocks at them.

When police arrived, the man turned his attention to them, even hitting one of the police cars with his fists.
