GLENDALE, Ariz. — While the City of Glendale prepares to host Super Bowl XLIX next year, the city’s Visitors and Convention Bureau said it’s getting ready for another big game: the Fiesta Bowl.
As announced over the weekend, the University of Arizona will take on the Boise State Broncos in the New Year’s Day game and now the bureau is working to prepare for the tens of thousands of people who will come to Glendale to watch the game.
“This is the 44th annual Fiesta Bowl, but for us here in Glendale it’s just another exciting opportunity to showcase our city and our state,” said Lorraine Pino, manager of the Visitors and Convention Bureau.
Pino said the department is preparing tote bags of information for visitors about things do and see while in town and people can pick them up for free by coming to the bureau’s office near 59th and Glendale avenues with their game tickets.
“You get the gift bag, which has a foam football, a Glendale visitor guide, information about the Fiesta Bowl and other goodies as well,” she said.
For those looking to score tickets to the game, Pino said they’re also holding a contest on the bureau’s Facebook page and the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the game.
