PHOENIX — Two of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s three terminals are now accessible by train.
The airport opened the second leg of its PHX Sky Train project Monday, connecting Terminal 3 to both Terminal 4 and the light rail.
“It’s about a seven-minute ride from the 44th Street station to Terminal 3,” Sky Harbor spokesperson Heather Lissner said at the unveiling.
The train carries about 70,000 people weekly and the new service is expected to bump that number up.
“It will be about a 20 percent increase with this new opening,” Lissner said.
Earlier this year, the train passed 3.5 million riders, exceeding airport officials’ expectations.
Sky Harbor has three terminals. Along with the new train station, the airport also unveiled a covered walkway connecting Terminal 2 to Terminal 3.
There’s no hard timetable for the ultimate completion of Sky Train to the rental-car center.
