PHOENIX — A former Arizona Department of Corrections officer suspected of sexually assaulting a women in San Tan Valley has been arrested, police say.
Police suspect the 25-year-old Morgan Lichaczewski of assaulting a 27-year-old woman who fell asleep in Lichaczewski’s living room following a birthday party. Police suspect alcohol may have been involved.
Police say the woman awoke to Lichaczewski assaulting her. She kicked him and told him “no,” before Lichaczewski returned to his bedroom.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said in a statement, “No one is above the law. This suspect was previously trusted to help keep our communities safe by keeping bad guys locked up, now suspect Lichaczewski will likely be spending time with them. We often find in many of these cases that alcohol impairs judgment for victims and perpetrators, yet it’s not an excuse to justify criminal sexual assault.”
Lichaczewski resigned from his position immediately prior to his arrest.
