Tempe police shoot suspect after he smashes into their cars

Tempe Police said late Tuesday morning that officers had shot and injured a man at a motel near the Arizona State University campus.
Authorities had been in pursuit of the 55-year-old, who was wanted on weapons violations. Police shot him multiple times as he tried to drive away from a motel at Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive.
The suspect jumped into a car and tried to escape by ramming his way through police cars.
The motel is close to a light-rail station. U.S. marshals and Mesa police were also at the scene.

The suspect was taken to hospital but his condition was unknown.
