PHOENIX — A closure heavily impacted traffic on a major Valley freeway Saturday night for approximately three hours.
Traffic on the eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in Phoenix was slowed to a crawl early in the evening because of a closure at 52nd Street due to a crash.
Around 6:30 p.m., the average speed of traffic was 5 mph, according to Roadnow Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommended using eastbound Interstate 10 during that time as an alternate route to get to the East Valley.
Around 9 p.m., ADOT reported the eastbound Loop 202 lanes were reopened. The department said the westbound lanes remained open during the closure that affected traffic in the other direction.
The crash reportedly involved three vehicles.
