PHOENIX — A man was hospitalized in critical condition after his clothes caught fire while he was standing in a west side parking lot.
Phoenix police aren’t sure how the fire started Thursday night near 35th and Glendale avenues, but the man suffered serious burns to most of his body.
Customers from nearby fast-food restaurants ran to help him after seeing the flames and hearing him scream.
A restaurant employee sprayed the man with a fire extinguisher. After the flames went out, he walked to another restaurant and asked for a cup of water.
Police have not released the man’s name.
