SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a Valley to host a Super Bowl.
The big game is in Glendale in February, but Scottsdale will be the scene of a lot of activity. The city is looking for volunteers to help out.
Scottsdale is calling the few weeks leading up to the Super Bowl its “Super Season” because it will host several events surrounding not only the Super Bowl, but also the Pro Bowl and the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
“We already have more than 6,000 Scottsdale residents signed up to be Super Bowl volunteers,” said Super Bowl Host Committee Chairwoman Jay Parry. “(They will be) proud ambassadors welcoming our fans, our visitors and our media.”
While 6,000 may seem like a lot, Parry said that more volunteers are needed.
“I invite all of you to also get involved as volunteers at azsuperbowl.com. It will be a way to create your special memory.”
Volunteers must be 18 years old and pass an FBI background check. According to the website, volunteers will guide visitors through local airports, hotels and transportation hubs, participate in special events leading up to the game and assist with charitable and community outreach activities that support local groups.
None of the volunteer positions offer a chance inside the game nor the NFL Experience.
