PHOENIX — Arizona is a state of shruggers when it comes to politics.
A survey by personal finance website WalletHub revealed Arizona to be the 10th-least politically engaged state in the union. Massachusetts was the most engaged.
The site
evaluated six metrics of each state and the District of Columbia, including registered voters in the 2012 presidential election, percentage of voters in that election and political contributions per adult population.
All of that and more left Arizona No. 42 for engagement.
Breaking down other numbers, Arizona did moderately well in youth voting, with 43 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds going to the polls in the last presidential election. Arizona ranked 25th for voting seniors in that election, at 71 percent.
West Virginia was the least engaged.
