PHOENIX — Police have arrested a suspect peripheral to this week’s shooting of an Arizona highway patrol officer.
A Phoenix police spokesman said Valeria S. Jaime, one of two women who had been brought in for questioning, was charged with hindering prosecution.
Jaimie was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and then booked.
The other woman was released.
Authorities believed Jaime, 24, was in the car with four others and witnessed the attack on a Department of Public Safety officer on Wednesday. The officer was shot in the head and remained hospitalized at Banner Good Samaritan in Phoenix.
The other occupants of the car were still at large. The car was found abandoned on the city’s westside.
A reward up to $11,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect.
