PHOENIX — Potential jurors in the Jodi Arias penalty-phase retrial will spend the rest of the week away from the courtroom, as proceedings ended Wednesday without a panel.
About 175 have lasted through several days of questioning from Maricopa County prosecutor Juan Martinez and Arias’ lawyer, Kirk Nurmi. The pool began with 400 people last week.
Earlier this week, the lawyers questioned those who made the first cut. A 12-person jury plus alternates will eventually be selected.
Court resumes Tuesday.
Arias was convicted last year of murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in his Mesa home in 2008. That jury couldn’t reach agree on a sentence after a five-month trial.
