One Arizona city’s kinder, gentler effort to rein in aggressive panhandling won’t do the trick, according to the majority of Joes and Janes Public, who voted in Wednesday’s Sanderson Ford Poll on KTAR.com.
This week, Flagstaff, Arizona, set in motion a voucher program that police hope will make a dent in street begging. The programs requires individuals to buy vouchers to then give to panhandlers instead of cash.
Most poll voters — 67 percent of them — didn’t think Better Bucks would discourage panhandling. Just over 650 voted.
