Getting ready for the rings

And tonight it all begins.
The opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games staged in London, England officially kicks off the spectacle, as the Olympic torch is brought into the stadium, as tradition dictates, by the Greek team, who has asked permission to circulate in the crowd asking for spare change to bail out their economy.
The schedule follows a rigid pattern of formalities including the raising of the Olympic flag, the playing of the anthem and an impressive fly-by of Royal Air Force fighter jets, who will tip their wings in unison to the Queen’s choice of hats.
Of course, we all are anticipating the parade of nations, with each country represented by all its Olympic athletes in uniforms symbolic of some part of their culture: Scotland in plaid kilts, Argentina in gaucho costumes and the American team garbed in colorful Chinese silks, joyously throwing fortune cookies into the stands.
Of course, the highlight of every Olympic opening ceremony is the lighting of the cauldron, which almost instantly will raise the temperature across all of Great Britain at least 17°.
