TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University reports record enrollment for the fall semester, with increases in transfers, international students and veterans.
Classes are beginning Thursday, and ASU officials anticipate an overall enrollment of over 82,000 students, an increase of nearly 8 percent from last year.
Preliminary first-day enrollment figures show over 66,000 undergraduates and nearly 16,000 graduate students.
Freshman enrollment this year grew to more than 11,000, while there are more than 8,800 transfer students. The number of transfer students is up nearly 13 percent from fall 2013.
Enrollment by veterans increased 25 percent.
The top countries for international enrollment are China, India, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Canada.
