PHOENIX -- Authorities say a teenage boy is dead and another one is in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on a Phoenix highway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said numerous 911 calls came in around 11 p.m. Friday reporting a crash in the southbound lanes of State Route 51 at Bell Road.
DPS said a car was speeding and lost control, rolling onto the right shoulder.
They said 16-year-old Kamal Alsahaq was ejected from the car and did not survive. The 17-year-old driver was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital with moderate injuries.
According to investigators, the driver could face a manslaughter charge if excessive speeding is found to be a factor.
Authorities have finished investigating the scene and they reopened southbound SR 51 around 7 a.m.
