PHOENIX -- Phoenix police say a carjacker who was shot by a victim's husband and then crashed the stolen vehicle has died.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said a woman arrived home around 3:30 p.m. Friday when the 29-year-old suspect pulled her out of her SUV.
Thompson said the couple living next door approached the suspect.
He said the suspect drove away, knocking the female neighbor to the ground, causing a non-life-threatening head injury.
Police said her husband then fired several shots with his handgun.
Authorities responded a short time later to a single-vehicle collision near 24th Street and Thomas Road. Officers found the suspect in the vehicle with a gunshot wound.
Police said he was pronounced dead at a hospital. His identity is not being released.
Authorities expect no charges to be filed.
