GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. -- Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park say a body has been located several hundred feet below the South Rim and it could be that of a missing hiker.
Park officials say the body was spotted Wednesday. But due to its location, the recovery operation won't be conducted until Thursday morning.
They say 36-year-old Marc Buckhout was reported missing by a member of his family. He's from the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.
Buckhout was last seen about 4:30 p.m. Saturday hiking along the South Rim west of Grandview Point in the vicinity of Highway 64.
Park officials say Buckhout's family has been notified of the body's discovery.
After the body is recovered, park officials say it will be taken to the Coconino County medical examiner for positive identification.
