PITTSFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- An Arizona man is suspected of stabbing his half-brother to death during a dispute in a pickup truck as the two traveled on a freeway near the Illinois-Missouri border.
The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/1prx9zq) reports that 47-year-old Dennis Coffman of Petersburg, Illinois, was declared dead early Saturday at a hospital in Hannibal, Missouri.
Twenty-eight-year-old Joseph Coffman of Fort McDowell, Arizona, is charged with aggravated battery and is jailed. Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty says further charges are expected.
Petty says his department fielded a 911 call reporting a stabbing in a vehicle on Interstate 72 near a Mississippi River bridge. Authorities later found the Coffmans in a pickup truck that had drifted onto the grass along the interstate, near Hull.
Online court records don't show whether Joseph Coffman has an attorney.
