FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- The drugstore chain Walgreens is laying off 345 employees at its distribution center in Flagstaff.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that workers were notified by email Saturday morning that the company planned to shut down the facility by April 2015.
Walgreens spokesman Phil Caruso said in the email that employees will be let go within the next nine months.
Caruso said each person will be offered a severance package.
Walgreens officials said the company has more space than it needs as it expands to more state-of-the-art facilities in other locations in the western U.S.
According to Caruso, the other facilities have twice the capacity of the Flagstaff location.
