PHOENIX -- An Oct. 15 sentencing is scheduled in federal court in Phoenix for a man convicted of a domestic violence killing on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in eastern Arizona.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said a jury convicted 36-year-old Willard John of Cibecue of second-degree murder on July 11.
John was convicted of the March 2012 stabbing and throat-slashing death of a woman who was the mother of John's two young children.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, John cut his throat after the killing.
John could be sentenced to a maximum penalty of life in prison.
