Peoria woman charged in Loop 202 wrong-way crash

MESA, Ariz. -- A Peoria woman is being held on $50,000 bond after being arrested in a wrong-way freeway crash that seriously injured another motorist.

Authorities say 33-year-old Erin May Corona was arrested after Tuesday night's crash on the Loop 202 in Mesa on suspicion of aggravated assault, criminal damage and endangerment.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say investigators also are checking to determine if Corona was driving while impaired by alcohol.

DPS reported receiving several calls about a wrong-way driver in the three minutes before the crash, which left the other driver with a broken leg and other injuries.

Corona doesn't have an attorney yet. She has a July 23 status conference in her case and a July 25 preliminary hearing.
