PHOENIX — A man who had barricaded himself inside a north Phoenix home Tuesday morning quietly surrendered to police after several hours.
Police cleared the area around 23rd and Northern avenues. They said the man was naked and had been destroying property in the neighborhood before he barricaded himself in his father’s house.
“He literally tore a mailbox out of the ground then used that pole to begin to damage vehicles,” Sgt. Trent Crump said.
The man was taken to a hospital for psychiatric observation.
