LAKE PLEASANT, Ariz. -- Authorities say a family's dog died after the car it was tied to rolled over into Lake Pleasant.
KTVK-TV reports that Maricopa County Sheriff's divers recovered the dog Saturday after searching the lake for the car.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the dog was left tied to a back tire but the animal somehow got inside the car and released the emergency brake around 10:15 p.m. Friday.
Divers had to wait for daylight to search.
The car was located in about 15 feet of water a few feet offshore and the dog was found in the passenger seat.
Sheriff's deputies said the dog's owners are cooperating with investigators.
