PHOENIX — The Scottsdale Fire Department responded to a call about a dehydrated young hiker Sunday morning.
A 12-year-old girl required attention on a hiking trail on Pinnacle Peak, Capt. Jim Novotny said. The girl was with a parent as fire crews arrived.
Novotny said crews had to use a big-wheel operation to get the girl down the trail safely. A paramedic evaluated the patient and determined she did not need to be transported to a hospital, Novotny said.
Novotny added it’s important to hydrate before you hike and bring plenty of water when you’re on the trails during high-temperature days.
