PHOENIX -- Officials say State Route 89A has reopened in Oak Creek Canyon after a brief closure because of flooding.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the roadway had been closed for a time on Friday between Sedona and Flagstaff.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

All developed recreation sites, vehicle pullouts, swimming holes and hiking trails closed in the Oak Creek Canyon area as of Thursday. Officials issued the closures on U.S. Forest Service land because of the risk of flooding during the monsoon season after a spate of recent wildfires and the limited ability to quickly evacuate people along Oak Creek.

Officials caution drivers to watch for flooding and debris on roadways adjacent to recently burned areas.
