On Sunday, a 22-year-old apartment tenant was shot and killed at a party he was hosting.
The victim, now understood to be 22-year-old Jacob Chavez, was originally thought by police to be 25 years of age. Phoenix Police said Monday that the suspect is 25-year-old Tomas Andrew Hernandez.
Hernandez, a Hispanic male who turns 26 on Tuesday, shot Chavez at 4:30 a.m. Sunday near the 6700 block of West Indian School Road. He fled the scene after the homicide and an active search is underway.
