Phoenix crew rescues teen trapped on quarry ledge

PHOENIX -- A teenage boy was safe after Phoenix firefighters rescued him from a ledge in a quarry.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said crews were called Monday around 8 p.m. to Buffalo Ridge Quarry near 16th Street and Loop 101.

The 16-year-old boy was stuck in a steep area not safe for hiking. He could have fallen several hundred feet.

Rescuers rappelled down and got him into a harness. They were then able to get him safely to the bottom.

According to authorities, the quarry is on private property. They did not say if the teen would be cited.
